Second-skin Bandage

Keep this bandage on for 1 to 3 days. This bandage is flexible and reduces the risk of irritation and infection. Remove the bandage under warm water and gently clean the tattoo with an antibacterial soap. Once this bandage is removed, begin the aftercare schedule:

Day 1-3: Wash your tattoo and dry your skin with a paper towel. Apply a thin layer of a tattoo ointment or lotion a few times a day.

Day 4-7: Continue moisturizing your tattoo day and night, avoiding direct sun exposure and heavy exercise. Your tattoo may start to look dry or scabby.

Week 2-4: Moisturize your skin well with a water-based body lotion for the final 2-4 weeks. For projects with large amounts of solid or color ink, your skin may need a longer time to heal.

Allergy warning: Some people have a sensitivity to adhesive bandages, sometimes even depending on the season or placement. If your skin looks irritated inside the bandage, remove it promptly and begin the rest of your aftercare.

Plastic Wrap

For large-scale projects and certain placements, the artist will choose to wrap your tattoo in plastic. This is a temporary covering that should be removed within a few hours in a clean setting. Start the regular aftercare process as described above.

Tips:

  • Do not itch the tattoo

  • No sunbathing, soaking or swimming

  • Avoid working out for at least 2 weeks (especially in public gyms)

  • Take care of your skin and you’ll take care of your tattoos: drink water often, moisturize well, and wear sunscreen!

  • Consult your healthcare provider at the first sign of an infection. If you have questions or concerns, contact:
